Who We Are
Hey all! We wanted to share with you an update from the Center for Recorded Music.
Giving Tuesday 2021 - Fundraising
GivingTuesday -- November 30th in 2021 -- is a global movement unleashing the power of radical generosity.
GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
The best news? Awesome donors will MATCH your Giving Tuesday donation -- dollar for dollar.
We'd love it if you you'd consider making a donation now -- knowing it will double your impact. Here's how:
Make a recurring or one-time donation by clicking the "Donate" record album at the top of the page. or
Click "Donate" on our Facebook Fundraiser (Facebook pays all the fees, so 100% of your donation goes directly to our organization).
We won some awards!
For the last 20 years, The Philly Awards have celebrated Outstanding Achievements in Nonprofit Marketing and Communications in Kansas City, and this year, C4RM was a winner! And we didn't just win one award, we won two.
First, we won a Gold for Short Video with our intro to the Center. Thanks to Teddy for the hard work he put into this.
We also won "Best In House" in the Small Nonprofit category. This one makes us especially proud, as it represents our team's achievements without significant outside work.
Our core team is volunteer, which makes all the hard work and time put in over the last 2 years even more special. Learn more about our Award Winning Team. Our deepest thanks and gratitude go to Nonprofit Connect, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, Bank of Blue Valley, and Arvest Bank for the recognition and for hosting such a great program!
Our building search
We are still on the hunt for a home for the Center.
Ideally, this property would be between located in the core of Kansas City, with easy access to the entire metro area as well as out of town visitors. Size wise, we are looking for a building between 20,000 and 60,000 sq/ft.
That is a pretty large range, on the smaller end we could get started faster and keep overheads low, however, we have enough interest and potential uses that we could fill the larger size.
Any building we consider must be fully accessible and ADA compliant or be updatable. In most cases off-street parking would also be required, with either a dedicated lot or nearby options. If you know of a great potential location, please reach out and let us know!
Upcoming shows and events
How can we bring you shows and events in 2022 in a comfortable, enjoyable, and safe manner? That's the question we are working on answering right now.
Our popular Listyn KC shows have outgrown their original home in the Tap Room at Waldo Pizza. We continue to search for a place that can comfortably seat 100-150 people, with food and beverages, where we can have 1-4 shows per month while we continue getting a building for the Center. These shows could be Listyn KC or other shows presented by local or national musical hosts. Along with monthly shows, we are trying to find a venue to host 200-500 person fundraising events. We will be letting you know as soon as we have the first of these events finalized for 2022.
Expanding Our Reach - Marketing and our Website
Many of you have noticed and commented on the increase in our marketing and social media activity. We have finally gotten into our stride, with help from our new Marketing expert, Elizabeth Howard.
If you want to keep up to date with our progress, as well as interesting pieces of musical insight and trivia, make sure and follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Along with social media, we have been busy creating our own content and articles. Please check out the pieces we have written so far, and make sure to keep watching for more articles about our progress, music history, guides, educational articles, and record reviews.
I would personally like to thank our team for all their hard work in 2021 and extend gratitude to our supporters for their continued help. And to the musicians and musical community -- thank you for creating these combinations of notes, words, and beats that allow all of us to experience magic on a daily basis.
Stay tuned for more excitement in 2022!
