A Winning Weekend at C4RM!

March 22nd and March 24th brought us two special guests for two great shows!

Michael Graves, Cheryl Pawelski, and Kelsyn Rooks

This March, C4RM was joined by four-time GRAMMY® Award winning producer and curator Cheryl Pawelski and five-time GRAMMY® Award winning engineer Michael Graves to present two projects, each with incredible sound, brought about by loving attention to the art of audio restoration and mastering.

Nina Simone "Little Girl Blue" cover

First, on Friday night March 22nd, they presented their restoration of Nina Simone’s Little Girl Blue.  This very special presentation was the 3rd in C4RM's 2024 series celebrating albums from 1959, the Greatest Year in Jazz!  Nina’s first album from 1959 was painstakingly restored by Cheryl and Michael and re-released in 2021.

Written in Their Soul Cover

Then, on Sunday March 24th, Cheryl and Michael hosted a second event featuring the Stax Records anthology Written In Their Soul: The Stax Songwriter Demos which just won the 2024 GRAMMY® Award for Best Historical Album.  This amazing release brings together 146 demos from the legendary Stax Records, including 140 recordings that are previously unreleased. This collection combines both songwriter demos of some of music’s biggest songs with full blown arrangements of never released tracks.  Cheryl and Michael took us through the 17+ year process of bringing this collection to life, as well as share stories and insights from their lives in the music industry.
