About the event

Omnivore Recordings night at The Listyning Room

Steve Goodman was an American folk and country singer-songwriter from Chicago.  He wrote the song "City of New Orleans" which has been recorded by artists including Arlo Guthrie, John Denver, The Highwaymen, and Judy Collins. In 1985, Goodman received the Grammy songwriter award for best country song. Goodman co-wrote "You Never Even Called Me by My Name" which became the best-selling song of country musician David Allen Coe. The world lost Goodman in September 1984 when he lost his fight against leukemia.

Phil Bourne will be taking us on a explorative journey through the music of Steve Goodman, with a particular focus on releases from Omnivore Recordings.

Before Phil Bourne became the King of Kansas City Pizza (see Waldo Pizza) he used to own a record store in Columiba, and he worked at 3 of the greatest record store institutions of KC, Penny Lane, 7th Heaven, and The Music…
