A very special Listyn KC!
What better way to kick off 2025 than with a milestone in record album history. 2025 marks 70 years since the release of In The Wee Small Hours, widely regarded as the first popular music concept album ever. Frank Sinatra fought with Capitol to make a full album of music following a theme, as opposed to a few hit singles with extra songs thrown in.
The album's songs deal with themes of introspection, melancholy, lost love, failed relationships, depression and night life. The cover artwork reflects the themes, portraying Sinatra alone at night on an eerie and deserted city street awash in velvet street lights.
It is only fitting that for this special "first" we will be playing a first pressing from Capitol.
