Listyn KC...it started from here
The Center is the home for Listyn KC, Kansas City's premier curated music experience.
Since 2015 "listyners" have gather together while Kelsyn Rooks spins a curated selection of music that inspired or was relevant to the featured LP of the month. Hear some historical anecdotes about the artists and music, along with fun trivia and rare cuts.
Turn off your phones while we turn up the volume and play the featured album, on vinyl, from beginning to end through our legendary hi-fi system .
You won't believe how great music can sound until you...Listyn!

Blues Kitchen Live!
Join John "Junebug" Stuerke, Cory Bryars, and special guest hosts for Blues Kitchen Live! at C4RM, as they spin music and stories about the history of the Blues and the modern musicians carrying on its legacy!
John hosts the Blues Kitchen radio show every Saturday morning on KKFI 90.1 FM from 8:00-11:00 a.m. After 24 years it has grown to become the most popular Blues program in Kansas City. John has either seen, heard, or performed with a veritable who’s who of blues musicians and has great personal stories to match.
Taking "The Fish Fry" Live
For 35 years, Chuck Haddix has been serving up the finest in blues, soul, rhythm & blues, jumpin' jazz and zydeco, at The Fish Fry, Friday and Saturday nights from 8 p.m. to midnight on Kansas City’s Public Radio Station, KCUR, FM 89.3.
Haddix is the director of the Marr Sound Archives, a collection of over 400,000 historic sound recordings housed in the Miller Nichols Library at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. Haddix teaches Kansas City jazz history at the Kansas City Art Institute.
His articles have appeared in Down Beat and Living Blues Magazine. Haddix is the coauthor of Kansas City Jazz: From Ragtime to Bebop published by Oxford University Press and the author of Bird: The Life and Music of Charlie Parker published by the University of Illinois Press.
Haddix is looking forward to spinning his spicy gumbo of Americana live at the Center.

Hosting "Retro Cocktail Hour" Live
For 25 years Darrell Brogdon has hosted The Retro Cocktail Hour, now heard on 50 stations around the world, including
-
Kansas Public Radio in Lawrence.
On the RCH, the music is ALWAYS served "shaken, not stirred" -- a finger-snapping, hip-shaking blend of space age bachelor pad music, tiki tunes, '50s mood music, private eye jazz and other incredibly strange music.
Darrell is excited to bring a live version of the show to the Center once we open.
